Visitors from Australia

Judy and Lindsay have been monthly donors to the Mirge School Environment Improvement Program since September 2012 - THANK YOU! Last month they had the opportunity to see where their donations had been going. So they visited Mirge and met the teachers and students at both Majhgaun Lower Secondary School and Kalidhunga Higher Secondary School. They also stayed at the new accommodation built to house mainly volunteers (we haven't had any yet). They have now returned to Australia, after what they described as being treated like royalty and having a wonderful time. I am sure that they will comment on this blog and share their story with you. Thank you again Judy and Lindsay and through your support we are able to continue our ongoing efforts to improve the quality of teaching and learning in Mirge.

  1. After a long 4wd trip we were greeted on arrival at Mirge by a group of very excited young children making us realise that visitors to this remote village must be scarce.
We stayed 2 nights in the new home stay where we felt most welcomed by Phulkaji and family. The delicious meals were cooked using local produce. Breakfast was in the sun on an upstairs balcony overlooking the valley.
We were overcome with emotion at the welcome from students and staff at both Majhgaun and Kalidhunga schools. A visit to these schools made us realise how much more help they need - very under resourced.
On leaving Mirge we determined to continue and where possible increase our support for this remote village.
Our visit was a most wonderful, rewarding and humbling experience and one day we hope to return. Would highly recommend others do the same and continue their support.
